This was arguably the most exciting match up of the day. Amanda, the #1 seed against Miranda Fyfe, the #3 seed. Both girls faced each other during round robin play only to end in a 12-12 tie. Despite an early injury in the finals, Amanda battled back to force the final match into overtime. Both players decided to play a full five minute match to determine the championship. Amanda, determined not to repeat her 2nd place finish in 2004, gave everything she had and defeated Miranda in Overtime 29-24. Way to go Amanda!

Amy defeated last year's F16 National Goalie War Champion, Morgan McQuaide, RI, 21-11. Competitors don't come much tougher than Amy. When she was just 15, she agreed to play up 3 years in the women's open at one of our regional events, much to the concern of her parents. Recognizing Amy's talents early, I knew she had the ability not only to hang but win the competition. Not only did Amy win the Women's Open at age 15, she hasn't looked back. She has won everone Goalie War competition since and now plays for one of the top women's soccer programs in the country. Way to go Amy!

But in the final match it was Jake who came out on top 14-12 to become the 2005 National Goalie War Champion. Way to go Jake!

This was the battle of NY. Brandon, the #1 seed in group A, faced Ian Huxel, NY, the #1 seed in group B. This was at least the 3rd meeting between these two great competitors in the last year. They faced off in a semi-final match in last year's championships and in the finals at the Northeast Regional Championship. Despite, getting to the finals in all these competitions, Ian hasn't found a way to beat Brandon. Thus Brandon remains the National Goalie War Champion. Way to go Brandon!

This is one of the finest groups of competitors ever assembled for a Men's Open Goalie War tournament. There were four National Champions and two National Finalists among these outstanding athletes. But in the end, there was a new Sheriff in town and his name was Leandro Fioretti. Leandro squeked into the play-offs with 26 total points, one more than Marcus Rodriquez, IL. He then dismantled two former national champs, PAZ, NJ and Pekarek, NJ to go to the finals. In the finals he met Trevor Lockwood, OH. Trevor advanced to the finals by beating last year's national champion Eugene Peart, IA by a score of 20-19. Trevor, last year's M18 National Champion, couldn't find the back of the net and was defeated by Leandro 18-5 in an exciting final match. Way to go Leandro!
