The National Goalie War Association, LLC (NGWA) is a membership based organization that provides education, training, recognition and support to soccer goalkeepers throughout the United States of America.
The mission of the NGWA is to support the development and promotion of soccer goalkeeping through the sport of Goalie Wars®.
The NGWA presents and sanctions local, regional and national Goalie War® tournaments and leagues. The NGWA also provides education and training to its members through its web site, publications, clinics, schools, camps and affiliate members, partners and sponsors.
The NGWA markets itself to the soccer community and general sports viewing public. The company emphasizes education and training while providing fun and exciting sports entertainment in a festival type atmosphere. Sales are secured through corporate headquarters and area directors.
The NGWA is the only organization in the world dedicated to the advancement of soccer goalkeeping through the sport of Goalie Wars®. No competition currently exists. The sport is protected by U.S. patent, trademark and copyright laws.
Founder and Executive Director Jeff Nelson brings significant management experience to the NGWA. Mr. Nelson has led, coached and trained thousands of youth and adult soccer players over the past 25 years. He has also managed personnel throughout his professional career as a lawyer and FBI Special Agent.
The NGWA is wholly owned and operated by its principals with the help of commissioned area directors. All equipment and supplies are owned by the NGWA. All administrative, legal and accounting operations are performed by its principals.
In 2002, the NGWA presented its first Goalie War tournament in New Jersey. The number of events expanded to six in 2003 and sixteen in 2004. The NGWA added goalkeeper schools, camps and leagues in 2004 and launched its merchandise line to include videos, promotional items and apparel. The NGWA presented its first national championship in February 2005. More than 120 athletes competed from 16 states.
