Congratulations To Andrew Delp the Primosport® Player of the Week
Where ThereÂ’s a Will, ThereÂ’s a Way To WinAndrew Delp, age 25, Lancaster, PA competed in the MenÂ’s Open division at the Northeast Regional Goalie War Challenge against two 19 year old fierce and experienced Goalie War competitors. Delp lost his first match 18-9 against Nicholas Smith, Glen Burnie, MD. He then lost 13-10 to Kyle Bayzick, Bridgeton, NJ. After round robin play, Delp was in 3rd place with a disappointing 10.33 goals against average (GAA) and 6.33 goals per game average (GPGA) In the play-offs, Delp met Bayzick in the semi-final round and what turned out to be the start of a great comeback, defeated him 11-5. Delp moved on to the finals and met Smith in one of the most exciting menÂ’s open matches to date. Both men were equally matched, firing rocket shots and coming up with huge saves. Only one point separated these warriors throughout the championship game. With just seconds to go and down by one point, Delp fired a two point missile towards the lower right corner of the net. Smith came up with, what everyone thought was, an unbelievable game winning save. Instead of holding onto the ball in the final seconds of play, Smith attempted a last minute insurance goal. He launched a final shot towards the upper right corner as the whistle blew ending the game. Delp, attempting to keep the ball in play and out of the net, tipped the ball forward onto the field of play, caught and held the shot before it hit the ground to earn the game tying point. In overtime, the seesaw battle continued but in the end it was Delp who demonstrated the will to win with his 18-14 overtime victory. Click Here for more information about Andrew Delp
