The NGWA Punt, Throw & Kick Competition is a fun and competitive event that stresses the importance of accurate and distant distribution as boys and girls ages twelve through adult compete separately against their peers in punting, throwing and goal kicking skills.
- The competition is open to all boys and girls ages twelve through adult. Boys and girls compete separately. Each age group will participate in their own competition. Players in one age group will not compete against players in another age group.
- There is no separate registration fee to participate in the NGWA Punt, Throw & Kick Competition.
- All participants may be required to show proof of age. The NGWA reserves the right to verify any and all information submitted. Inaccurate information is immediate grounds for disqualification. In the event of a dispute, all participants will have at their immediate disposal some form of documentation verifying their age (i.e. birth certificate, drivers license, etc) Failure to provide such documentation could result in the participant being suspended from competing until such documentation can be obtained.
- Participants must be present at scheduled starting times in order to compete. Failure to do so may result in ineligibility.
- Each participant will be allowed one punt, one throw, and one goalkick as part of his/her competition.
- Scores are based on both distance and accuracy. For example, If a participant punts the ball 150 feet, but the ball lands 50 feet to the right of the measuring tape, the final score would be 100-50 = 50. Scores will be based on exact yards and feet rounded to the nearest foot. In the event a participant receives a negative score, his/her score will be recorded as "0".
- A participant’s final score is his/her cumulative total for the three individual events. For example, if a participant scores (50) for punting, (40) for throwing and (30) for kicking, the participant’s score is 120.
- If a participant goes over the line before releasing or making contact with the ball, he/she will be penalize five (5) feet. Exception: A participant may go over the line without penalty when making his/her goalkick provided the ball is placed on or before the line.
- Scores will be determined from where a participant’s punt, throw & kick first makes contact with the ground. Bounces or rolls do not add to the score.
- If a participant tries to punt, throw, or kick and misses the ball completely, it does not count as an attempt and another attempt is allowed.
- Participant’s may wear any type of shoe including cleats, turf shoes and gym shoes.
- Participant’s may wear any type of goalie equipment including gloves.
- Participant’s may not utilize their own soccer balls.
- The participant, in each of the boys’ and girls’ age groups, who has the highest final score wins the competition.
- If a tie exists for first place, each participant involved in the tie will compete in a playoff to determine the final standings. The playoff will consist of the participant’s competing head to head in a repeat of all three events.
- Competitions will be held rain or shine. The NGWA will cancel if threatening or dangerous weather conditions exist and reschedule the event. Cancellation decisions will be made by the NGWA on site.
- The NGWA, its agents and organizers of the Punt, Throw & Kick Competition reserve the right to rule and make any recommendations and/or changes regarding the Punt, Throw & Kick Competition that they feel are beneficial to the continuance of the program. All decisions are final.
- Participation constitutes permission to use the competitors’ name and likeness for promotional purposes without compensation.
- All participants’ or participants’ parents must sign the Entry/Release of Liability form before participating in any NGWA Punt, Throw & Kick Competition.
